Uni-T UDP5040-40 DC Switching Power Supply
The UNI-T UDP5040-40 is a 400 W programmable DC switching power supply with a single output rated from 0-40 V and 0-40 A. Its auto-ranging architecture provides flexible power delivery across the full operating range, complemented by accurate regulation, advanced source-emulation functions, and remote programmability for professional laboratory and production use.
The supply's 2.4-inch TFT-LCD shows voltage, current and power together, and full SCPI control over USB and LAN which drops the UDP5040-40 straight into LabVIEW, Python-VISA or any ATE framework. Application uses include battery and energy-storage test, new-energy and automotive electronics, and automated test and production.

Front and Rear Output Terminals (front limited to 10 A).
Multi-unit Series/Parallel: up to 4 parallel / 2 series.
USB + LAN with full SCPI 1999.0 / IEEE-488.2; 2.4-inch TFT-LCD.
Multi-Unit Operation - Scale When You Need More
The UDP5000 Series enables external power expansion by combining identical units. Users can connect up to four supplies in parallel for higher current or two in series for higher voltage. Coordination is handled through the rear CAN/LS_BUS interface, enabling operation from a master unit or a single SCPI command set, with unit-to-unit load sharing maintained within about 5% of the rated value.
Scale Up in Parallel = More Current
400W / 800W / 1200W - Maximum of 4 Units
2000W - Maximum of 2 Units
Scale Up in Series = More Voltage
400W / 800W / 1200W / 2000W - Maximum of 2 Units
Models in the UPD5000 Series
The UDP5000 series consists of 20 power supplies based on a unified architecture, available in five voltage classes (40 V / 80 V / 160 V / 250 V / 800 V) and four power ratings (400 W / 800 W / 1200 W / 2000 W). While output range and chassis size vary by model, all instruments deliver the same control capabilities, accuracy specifications, protection functions, and communication interfaces for a consistent user experience.

Uni-T UDP5040-40 DC Power Supply FAQ
What communication interfaces does the UDP5040-40 feature?
The unit comes equipped with USB Host, USB Device (USB), and LAN ports. It supports SCPI protocol commands for remote automation, test-system integration, LabVIEW, and Python-VISA script. What are the front vs. rear panel output limits on the UDP5040-40?
The front-panel output current is limited to a maximum of 10 A. Values above 10 A trigger protection; therefore, high-current loads should be connected to the rear-panel output. What is the internal variable resistance function?
The internal variable-resistance function electronically emulates source impedance (set in CV mode, up to 0.333Ω in 1 mΩ steps), so the supply behaves like a battery, fuel cell or solar source with no physical resistor and no added thermal risk. What is the difference between the VHS/IHS and VSR/ISR slope modes?
VHS (CV high-speed) and IHS (CC high-speed) use the supply's default fast rise and fall rates. VSR (CV slope) and ISR (CC slope) let you set the rise and fall rate so output ramps in controlled fashion. How does CC/CV Priority work?
Unlike basic bench power supplies with fixed crossover behavior, the UNI-T UDP5000 Series lets you choose between Constant Voltage (CV) priority and Constant Current (CC) priority. CV priority establishes the target voltage first, making it the preferred mode for powering microcontrollers, FPGAs, and analog rails. CC priority regulates current first, making it the safer choice for LEDs, laser diodes, and battery charging applications where inrush current must be limited.
