This flashlight is specifically designed for hazardous atmospheres containing grain dust, flour, starch, combustible plastics, hazardous vapors, and gases. It is suitable for explosive atmospheres involving substances such as gasoline, petroleum, naphtha, alcohol, lacquer solvent vapors, and natural gas.

The Fulton 912 model includes a special "circuit breaker" spring assembly that instantly disconnects the bulb from the battery in the event of a broken bulb. This safety feature prevents a potential explosion by immediately cutting the filament’s connection, eliminating any spark hazard.
